Nothing new about it. University of West Virginia and Dr. Faustman at MGH,

years ago now, found that repressing the immune problem that destroys beta

cells in Type 1 diabetics allows the body to regenerate beta cells from
adult 
stem cells, at least in some lab animals.

It does little or nothing for Type 2 diabetes, which includes 19 out of 20

diabetics. And by itself, it does nothing about the immune problem that 
destroys the cells. That needs to be addressed, or the new cells will be 
destroyed.
