Hi Adrian:
Cytek, Inc makes a Biohazard containment hood that fits nicely on the
FACSVantage and covers both the sample collection and sample input
areas (I
believe the BD one only protects the collection side). It maintains a
100
feet/minute inward flow and runs through a HEPA filter system which
can be
vented to the inside or outside. It also allows you to open the sort
collection chamber immediately in case of a nozzle clog by increasing
the
inward flow of air when the sort containment door is opened. I believe
the
BD one requires you to wait two minutes to clear aerosols before
opening the
sort compartment. I believe the price is less than half of the BD one
as
well. You can contact Simon Monard (smonard@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
) at
the
Trudeau Institute for more specifics, he designed it and has been
using it
on his instrument for quite some time. The unit can be purchased from
Cytek,
Inc. (see www.cytekdev.com). I hope to purchase one in the very near
future
myself. Regards,
