Dear Colleagues
2901 - thats the current active member****p of this cytometry list.
The
amazing thing is that less than half of you are members of ISAC. I
want
to encourage you to consider joining, as ISAC is the society for
cytometry and it brings a great deal of sup****t to members of the
cytometry community. http://www.isac-net.org
for more information. As
the current Society president, I want to personally invite you to
participate in ISAC. ISAC is a strong society with something for
everyone in the field.
2006 was an excellent year for cytometry - the 23rd congress in
Quebec
was a great success and has really given ISAC a boost. I am amazed at
the number of new technologies that I saw emerge this year.
In 2007 you will see a new look and feel to this discussion group.
It's
been about 16 years since we began this project with just 4 or 5
members
- noone had email then! Out goal is not a flashy, glitzy product - we
want a quality down-to-earth easy system. The more glitzy it looks
the
more complex it will be - but frankly many of you are asking for a
more
flexible system - so 2007 will see that appear!
Our Purdue group has driven web-based cytometry since we first
appeared
on the web in December 1993. We have also now moved the ISAC website
to
an active well accessed site. It is exciting to see the ISAC site
emerge
with a large hit rate.
New cytometry groups are appearing in India and China at a fast rate.
We
expect to see great stides in cytometry in both these countries. With
half the world's population it should be no surprise.
I have not listed my top 20 emailers this year. I did note that
Howard
Shapiro (60 replies) was trumped tho' but a relative newcomer to
this
list - Vladislav Rozenkov (72 replies). I want to thank each and
every
one of you for participating in this discussion. The fact that the
best
cytometry people in the world use this group to answer and educate is
what makes this list so great. We thank you all and wish you a very
pleasant holiday season and of course, a prosperous and successful
2007.
With best wishes
