Please join the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Spinal
Cord Injury (RRTC on SCI) for a Web cast on Yoga and the Mind Body
Connection for People with Disabilities. The RRTC on SCI is a program
of the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in collaboration with
ILRU.

Matthew Sanford, MA, founder and president of Mind Body Solutions will
share his experience with Iyengar yoga and talk about his current work
teaching an adaptive class for people living with disabilities on
Wednesday, June 4th at 3:30 pm Central.

Matthew is a pioneer in adaptive yoga for persons living with
disabilities and has been teaching a weekly adaptive yoga class at the
Courage Center in Golden Valley, Minnesota since 1998. He has
received several awards for his work, including a Volvo For Life
National Hero award this past March--viewable at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpmbzAwL5ws.

Matthew was also recently featured on NBC's Today Show and has
published a memoir that chronicles his journey in understanding the
mind body connection.

As part of the continued focus on knowledge and prevention of
secondary conditions associated with SCI, Matthew Sanford will discuss
his work in adaptive yoga, and how the mind body connection applies to
everyone. The webcast will be moderated by Lex Frieden, Director of
ILRU and professor of Health Informatics and Rehabilitation at the
University of Texas (Houston, TX). Join us to learn more about Yoga
and the mind body connection.
