Hello my name is Mark,
I have been thinking over the years of the need to operate activism/
advocacy out of our homes. Since the majority of those that are in
advocacy grouups are in it for themselves. If any movement is to work.
It must have the backing of all religous groups, so that it has the
momentem it needs in order to succede. I propose that a network be
formed in the sense that it is straight out of our homes. I reside in
Idaho, So this kind of grouping will be necessary I think so that that
there is people who truly care. That can be ready at a moments notice;
like that of Paul Revere and the Minute Men.
Here are two ideas I had for more agressive non violent protest. This
one goes back to the 504 days. We can have ourselves a campout in the
statehouses and the goverment buildings that go with that.The Key to
pulling this off is getting out to the people have the advocates and
the activisits reach out in their community. We have been divided by
our respective issues that involve disability for too long.
I feel that it is time for those with disabilities to stand up for
themselves. We will have to do it without the help of SILC's and DD
councils to fund it. I have contacts that are willing to provide
information on things inside of the government. A true movement is
done and completed by ordinary people. The other groups that we need
to partner up with are other groups as well. more specifically any
other group that is not heard or represented among the groups. Ex:
Womens groups. With the campout idea we would have to make sure to
allow the employees to leave while still remaining in those buildings
that is the only suggested change I have.
