36 weeks today!! :*)

by whodunit <momtomayathegreat@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 24, 2008 at 08:50 AM

A huge milestone passed successfully as we begin the ninth month of
pregnancy here! Praise God that we've basically had an easy,
uncomplicated time of it. :*)

Still no real symptoms of labor, just a lot of BH's and now the babies
have dropped to such a point it is very uncomfortable with their heads
down in my pelvis to even sit easily, much less sleep deeply (I always
have a fear of cru****ng Sarah when I sleep on my left side so I ****ft
around a lot, as much as possible)--makes it hard to get into that REM
state where you get that deep sleep.

Both babies are extremely active, kicking each other and me on a
regular basis. Still use the Babybeat monitor to check their
heartrates, which have been in the normal range too. I can already
pretty much tell what their sleep/awake schedules will be so hopefully
we can transition easily once they are born. Starting to see some
colostrum as well, but not really any other symptoms. I have an OB
appt tomorrow morning, we'll see if I've dilated any further (been a 1
for a few weeks) and if the cervix has started effacing (thinning out)
yet...what a hoot it would be after all this time of being concerned
about pre-term labor only to be induced with pitocin in the end! :-)
Of course, all of that is still up in the air--we'll see.

Oh, I need to ask for thoughts and prayers--DH's mom is in the ICU of
the local hospital there in India--she's a Type 2 diabetic (and not
very good about monitoring herself, unfortunately) and last fall she
got pretty sick with some related complications and kidney infections.
She'd been doing pretty good since then, but apparently ran out of her
glucose monitor strips so she stopped monitoring herself
to save money (DH was pretty upset about that, we'll pay for whatever
they need but they are trying not to 'be a burden' on us with the
twins coming) and this past weekend she developed a high fever while
they were out of town (they'd gone to some special temple in the next
state to offer up prayers for the babies' safe delivery, as well as
travel grace for themselves)--they took her to the hospital and the
docs couldn't figure out what was wrong but figured it was probably
another kidney infection--sent her back home to check with her regular
doctor, and he slapped her in ICU to get the fever down (which is
lower now than it was over the weekend). They are also carefully
monitoring her diabetes, plus trying to figure out what exactly is
going on with the kidneys that she's
gotten another infection. On top of all this she's having hypertension
(high blood pressure problems)--so she is in need of lots of healing
prayers!!

If she doesn't recuperate within the next week or so, they will
probably have to cancel their trip here--DH is very upset about that
because he was counting on them to be here with me and the babies and
Maya so he could get back to work sooner, but that may not happen
(he's already being pressured to make some more world trips because
customers are specifically asking for him, which is good for his
career, but for helping me out if I'm on my own, not so much!).
Another (not the most im****tant but still) aspect is that we paid for
their tickets, which, to get them cheaper, are non-transferable and
non-refundable, so if they can't make the trip, there goes several
thousand dollars down the drain, and although DH won't begrudge his
parents for something like this happening, I know he worries a LOT
about finances and this will bother him too. :-( Oy.

So we are praying that the doctors there figure out exactly what is
going on and get her the right meds she needs so she can recuperate
fully and be allowed to travel by the 4th of July (they are due here
on the 5th), because DH really needs his parents here at this time,
and Maya was really looking forward to their stay because they'll give
her lots of attention that she won't be getting from us in those
beginning days with the babies...I sure would appreciate any thoughts,
prayers and well wishes on her behalf!

Gotta go now, I've been working on my baby shower thank you cards,
trying to get those out before the babies get here and I don't have
time! :-) Nearly finished, yay me! :-)

I'll update y'all on the OB appt tomorrow asap.

Carolyne in TX
28 days 'til official due date 7-22-08;
????? 'til actual delivery?? ;-)
