Ten weeks and THREE DAYS :))
I walked in to the doctor's office today -- and boy was I surprised!
DH was waiting there for me. He managed to get out of a work luncheon,
and take off half of the afternoon besides since the wait is usually
long :)
But wait -- more good news!!! We saw the baby on doppler ultrasound
(from outside the belly) and s/he was having a fun time in there,
dancing and jiggling...I think the baby was putting on a show! (DH
swore he saw a grin on the little face ;)
Also, the heartbeat was strong -- so baby is doing well, and mama is
too -- except for needing naps and lots of sleep at night. My weight
gain is good , and for health reasons I've also started exercising 3
times a week (stationary bike, and walking on treadmill at JCC); it's
not strenuous but it gets my heart rate up, which is good for baby's
heart and growth :)
Our next appointment is in 2 weeks at the hospital for an NT test
(nucchal translucency test, done by US) - for Down's syndrome and
other chromosomal defects. This is being done in conjunction with a
blood test, the results of which will take about a week to retrieve.
If all is well (mostly evident on the US), I won't need an
amniocentesis :) That's good, because the idea of having a needle
through my belly isn't quite as appealing as say...a root canal ;)
Today I had the basic bloodwork drawn up, and we asked Dr. Smileyface
if we could add a "Jewish Panel" ie, testing to see if I have markers
for Tay-Sachs, Gaucher's disease, etc. We don't anticipate anything
out of order...
So -- we'll keep on keepin' on, and god willing, announce our
pregnancy in a few weeks :)
AAAAANDDD -- no more nightly injections!!! yay!!!!
warm wishes,
Yael :)
