Hi, all! Hope you are having a great weekend.
Me, not so much. :-(
I have seasonal allergies, and surprisingly didn't
have any trouble in the spring while I was pg.
But it looks like my fall allergies are starting to
kick in. I usually have the sniffles but there are
a few days in the spring and fall when I am sledgehammered
with sneezing (there's been times when I've sneezed nearly
a hundred times in a row!), my eyes swell shut, non-stop
nose running, the works--AND THAT'S WITH THE ALLERGY MEDICINE
I USUALLY TAKE!! :-O :-O
At the twins 2 month visit I asked the ped. about allergy meds
but didn't persist because I wasn't having trouble at that time--
<smacks self in forehead> and the doctor said, oh no, you can't
take any allergy medicine while nursing, it will dry up your milk!!
Oy.
I can't remember if I took claritin/loratidine when I was nursing
Maya, and I don't remember having a lot of trouble with allergies
but then again we were in California early on--I did have to have
allergy shots once she was weaned because I was having MAJOR allergy
problems (we lived in northern California which is so fertile you
can drop a rock on the ground and something will grow from it so
there was greenery EVERYWHERE, most of which I was allergic to!)
Does anyone know offhand if I take loratidine will it dry my milk
supply up? Or will the OTC stuff be okay? I hate to experiment and
lose my milk supply--but surely there's something that might help
before those few bad allergy days hit me?
TIA, any advice is welcome, holistic, medical, whatever!!
