Congratulations! How awesome!

I nursed Rayna til she turned three. For the first two years or so,
she still nursed round the clock. At that point I night-weaned her and
cut it down to just twice a day (she always nursed to sleep, so she'd
nurse to sleep for her nap and then to go down for the night). At
around two and a half, she gave up naps (most of the time, anyway), so
we were down to nursing just once before bedtime.
I pumped for my twins til they were around four months old.

I had actually wanted to wean Rayna earlier than I did, but she seemed
to need it so much that I just kept going. We wanted to TTC again,
though, and my RE told me I had to have stopped b/fing completely for
at least three months before starting treatment (I don't ovulate on my
own at all, so zero chance of us conceiving without assistance).
Shortly before she turned three, the time just seemed right to finally
wean her and to start injections for our IUI (we actually conceived
our twins *on* her 3rd birthday :). (I figured that since I only
nursed her once/day at that point, I could start the stims anyway,
regardless of what the RE recommended. Obviously, it all turned out
fine in the end.)

Yes and no. When Rayna was demanding to nurse all the time, I began to
resent it and had to set boundaries. I was more than happy to get down
to just two--and later, one--nursing sessions/day. When we finally
weaned completely, I was a little sad that she no longer got "nana"
before bed, but at the same time, I was relieved that she was FINALLY
learning to fall asleep on her own, without the aid of the boob.
I was sad when I stopped pumping for the twins, because I really
wanted to give them breastmilk for at least six months. I just
couldn't keep up with it, though.
Good luck!
Mary
