adopting from India

With great sadness I read the thread with all of the fighting and
argument.  I am saddened for a number of reasons, but one of the
greatest is that adoptable  children in India are suffering because of
the caste system.  I have a friend who  adopted two children from India
- a boy who came home at age 4, and a girl who came home at 11 months.
Both are beautiful, loving and exceptionally bright children.  They
lived in orphanages where they did not get sufficient care, they
suffered manutrition and came home with lice.  Children just like them
are lingering in orphanages in India because of the caste system - a
system that is antiquated, discriminatory and just sickening.  That
anyone would sup****t such a system in this day and age is deplorable,
IMO.

at the address above.  I know of an agency that is working hand-in-hand
with one of the orphanages in India to try to improve the conditions
there.  These children need help, not more discrimination.
