MOST CHIROPRACTORS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING.
But it's WHAT they DO that's bothersome. And not cheap!
Sure, they can reduce or eliminate your back or hip or whatever pain
with their manipulations, jerks, pulls and twists. Not infrequently
painful in themselves.
But the pain center --- the skeleto-muscular source of your aches --
while eased/realigned by the chiropractor in one area of your body,
usually prompts a "migration" of the cause of the pain -- within days,
weeks or months -- to another area, there to cause pain in another
nearby location. Or as often, the pain returns to the original body
area.
So, it's back to the chiropractor again, and again, in an expensive
cycle that can follow you throughout your life.
Recent studies have posited that back pain in otherwise normal adults
usually clears up by itself within four to eight months, without
treatment. I can vouch for this. I simply couldn't afford a
chiropractor's fees, and friends advised me that just one visit seldom
does the trick. But one day, after about five months of sometimes
debilitating pain, I woke up and the pain was gone. I've been
generally pain-free for two years now.
But what will always drive people to chiropractors is the desire for
instant pain relief. And for many people, that's a pretty good
reason.
