I personally don't think dreams _mean_ anything.

Quite often if I ever remember dreams they are typically related to
something 
discussed the day before but in a more(much more) surreal style.

I guess the rational part of the mind has a break at night after a days
hard 
work leaving the less rational areas to run riot.

Many years ago I had a "dream diary" by the bed and would set the alarm to
wake 
me up about an hour before I would usually wake, so right in dream-time
which 
enabled me to recall and write down the whole dream story.
(this was while trying to develop lucid dreaming techniques)

I still remember most of those dreams to this day some 10 years or more
later.
