Depends - are you willing to take anyone's word for it, or do you require
proof? If the latter, you'll just have to wait. <g>
Perhaps Alex will drop in and regale us. He's one of those folks that
died on the operating table and lived to tell the tale. He assures us
there's nothing to worry about.
From "my" own green and inexperienced perspective, "I" already feel that
the ego is just illusion, our brains' way of fooling us into thinking we
are individuals when really all life is one. If this line of inquiry
sounds interesting to you, you might want to do some preparatory reading
in related areas to get some grounding. The Oprah Book Club is into
Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth - Awakening to Your Life's Purpose" lately,
so you might start there. Or the Power of Now. Or several other of his
books. They're all good.
Then you could attack it from another angle by going with something like
"The Collected Works of Ramana Mahar****" or maybe "I Am That" by Sri
Nisargadatta Maharaj. Or "The Diamond in Your Pocket" by Gangaji. You
know, Advaita? (nonduality) Or...I could go on, but no need to list more
unless these sorts of things really interest you.
BTW, what are *your* thoughts on the subject?
