OT: updates
Great Usui's Ghost! It's March 29th. I did not realize just how much
time was passing or how fast.
So there's a lot going on in my life. Last January, I began college
(again). I started college before but did not complete the degree.
That gave me the op****tunity to work in that field and realize it's
just not for me. Some time passed and I decided to pursue other
college goals.
At the beginning of the year when I re-matriculated, I thought I was
going to go into some area of medicine. Seemed like a good goal -
many have told me I would make a great nurse and that level of health
care runs in the family. However there have been some new
developments since that original idea.
The first would be obstacles. Admittedly, I would enjoy getting into
nursing. But it's very competitive. The City College where I am
attending only accepts 80 students per year out of several thousand
applicants. Being completely honest with myself, there is no way I
can compete with the 18 year olds with a high science aptitude
(although I enjoy practicing math on a regular basis, it's not regular
enough judging from my placement scores). The other more significant
factor is the nursing program is a 2-year full time program. I do
need to work and going two years without an income is not possible.
So that puts an element of realism before me.
What has been realized in this time is that I have a very high
aptitude in writing. It's pretty much effortless, but then I've spent
so much time socializing here that should not be surprising. Through
the regular Reiki meetings hosted here in San Francisco, I also must
admit I enjoy public speaking (the lecturn in the studio apartment

is a dead give-away).
The ease with the English language combined with the joy of public
speaking has led me to explore a new degree: English Literature. That
means I may become a college professor, teaching English. That is not
set in stone, but it is a definite possibility.
I have not entirely let go of the nursing, but when I think about what
I would enjoy more, it would be standing in front of a group of
people, talking, teaching, and interacting with everyone.
The Reiki practice has taken a life of its own and now I'm riding the
wave. The first introductory book (great for newcomers just beginning
to explore Reiki) is on Amazon Kindle and will soon be available
electronically though Google Books and other readers.
Three (3) more books are in work, the first will be released in June.
It will be significantly more complex than the introductory book
mentioned above and add several new elements to the Reiki practice. I
believe that most everyone will learn something new from it. It will
be released electronically and in print.
The Reiki Sangha website is being transformed into The Reiki Sangha
Magazine, a journal of spiritual health & fitness.
All in all I'm very busy. I have been dropping in to scan the posts
but have not had much time to participate simply due to my academic
schedule.
I hope that everyone is well.
